Yoni Pisat - The devil's vagina (tree in Buriram province)

Going to see this tree was the peg for my recent trip so Srisaket and Buriram. It all started here: http://sawatdeenetwork.com/forum/post292958.html.

If you are there at the right time of year, it is customary to have a giggle at one of the local plants, the Yoni Pisat (or Devil’s Vagina) tree, with its fruits that evoke a lady’s naughty parts.

I talked about this with a Thai friend, and he called the park office, this year October to December is a good time to visit.

Khao Kradong Vulcano Forst Park วนอุทยานภูเขาไฟกระโดง.
From Buriram town about 15 minutes drive southwards on a friend's mocy. I saw songhteos driving past the entrance on the main road (hwy 219). For view of gate from main road see here http://www.buriramtimes.com/buriram-news/24-khao-kradong-improves.html (The disadvantage of traveling on a friend's mocy - you can't just stop to take a picture like when walking.)

From the sign in picture above:

Khao Kradong is a place where you can find a rare plant species called Yoni Pisat (schrebera swieteniodes Roxb) which is only found on extinct volcanoes. The tree has got the name from its fruit that, when totally ripe, breaks into two parts, each of which leaves a vagina shaped impression when pressed on the ground. In a local folklore "Prachit-Oraphim", the story goes that when Oraphim travelled alone in the woods, she prayed and transformed into a man, leaving her vagina with this tree.

I counted 298 steps to the top (link above says 297), but there is a road to and parking at the top.

Pool with stones that float in water.

Big sitting Buddha statue (and Buddha footprint, no picture).

View of Buriram and stadium.

But finally to the subject. Yoni Pisat trees are marked with a yellow band.

A display of fruits (I assume shells, seeds removed).

Yoni Pisat โยนีปีศาจ is the academic Thai name of the tree, the locals call it Hee Pee หีผี (pussy of a ghost). Whereas "phallic" (Having to do with the penis, especially in terms of shape.) is well known, I learnt of its antonym "yonic" (In the shape of a vulva or a vagina; in the shape of a yoni.) only recently.

I would say the similarity is far fetched. But you have to consider the last time I saw a pussy from close was when I was born, an experience I don't want to repeat.

Let me share a joke from my time in the army. Our officers used to say: "Und wenn der Himmel voller Fotzen hängt, der Blick ist geradeaus gerichtet. Abstand zum Vordermann 30 cm; 29 cm ist schwul und 31 cm ist Fahnenflucht!" My translation: "And even if pussies are hanging in the sky, you will look straight ahead. Distance to the soldier in front of you is 30 cm; 29 cm is gay and 31 cm is awol (absent without leave).

And let me share a picture of a woman's dress, found on facebook:

But there is more. Suspension bridge over the mouth of the volcano.

The park is popular with locals.
