Cannonball tree

Cannonball tree (scientific name Couroupita guianensis or Shorea robusta (?), Thai name สาละลังกา or just สาละ, or ลูกปืนใหญ่ "big cannonball tree"). The fruit are hard and heavy, if it falls on your head this will lead to injury or even death.

    I have seen those trees at a wat in Chiang Mai (among other places) but never knew what they called. Now I know! Thanks.
