My plan was to avoid Songkran by spending that time outside of Thailand, but I couldn't stretch my stay in China any longer, so I got into Songkran in Cambodia. It is celebrated in a similar way as in Thailand, and caused me discomfort here as well: problems with hotels and travels, my favorite restaurants closed, boys I want to meet are away or busy.

Kimseng van to Kampot. In town New Year party in full flow. My original plan was Green Garden Guesthouse, but that would be 400 m from Kimseng office and I don't know if I would make it there dry. In general water play in Cambodia is more civilized than in Thailand. People who are not dressed to participate are left in peace. But still, I can't risk an accident or stray water with all my luggage.
Instead go to Suorsdei Sawadee after 100 m. Standard room 20 USD/night. 3rd floor, elevator. Common balcony around 3 sides of building. Good desk for office work. Wardrobe without door. Bathroom door awkward (have to walk around door to get to sink), and to toilet another door. Flip-flops, shower gel, shampoo, kettle, hair dryer, but no fridge! Fridge can be rented for 2.50 USD/day. Mirror in bathroom has touch-sensitive, illuminated color-changing buttons for light and heating.
Evening water play and music still active in town center (Durian Roundabout), but away from center quiet. Some cute faces and some shirtless great bodies.

Settle for another hotel nearby, but once I checked in, notice several things I don't like. E.g. door to road opens with key tag, i.e. when someone comes to meet me, he has to wait on the road. Bathroom door frame low, hit my head several times. Move on to another place soon.
