In 2011 I chatted with a Filipino in online dating, then met in Khao San road, then went to my room. A bordercase, and his wanking was rather rough and he might have injured my penis if I hadn’t stopped him.

In 2012 I chatted on gayromeo with a boy, and on his facebook I saw he likes wine, and as I was working in France at that time I offered to bring him a bottle. Once I was in Thailand, he went quiet (messages read but no reply), and at the end I gave the bottle to a Farang friend. 

In 2018 I chatted with boy who is teacher in Ramkhamhaeng on hornet. I once went to meet him, no show. Second appointment (he will come to my room and I will pay for taxi) cancellation. Details below.

Dating SEAsian boys (1) Overview

I once read somewhere (but couldn’t find the quote on google, here from memory):

When you have sex with someone from another country, do your best. For them, you are representative of your country.

For that reason, when a boy arrives on time after efficient communication, but is not so much type, I don't send him away but I give him access to my body (within reason).

Here my rating how boys from SEAsian countries are in and out of bed. This order is a weird mix of looks, character, availability, and how I like the country in itself.

1. Myanmar

Out of about 30 boys I have met, free or paid, in Thailand or in Myanmar, 29 positive and one neutral (Win Saraburi).

2. Cambodia

Close second. Out of about 30 boys, the only negatives were: 

Sauna in Phnom Penh in 2017, where I was with a cute boy in the darkroom. He was happy to play with my naked body, but wouldn’t take off his underwear.

In 2011, I met a Cambodian in front of Malaysia hotel and we soon retreated to my room. You can blame it on my inexperience, but I was surprised when he asked for money afterwards. I gave him 500; he wanted more and refused to leave, so I had to kick him out. But not ill feelings, only months later he approached me online to meet again. (Saw him just a week ago in Bangkok, both online dating and in real, still in the trade.)

3. Lao

About 20 encounters, both in Thailand and Lao, all okay except the one in Luang Prabang in 2011 who would have raped me if he had been stronger than I.

4. Indonesian

Limited statistical basis (two encounters in Bangkok and several when I went to Indonesia in 2015), but all okay.

5. Chinese

Many free encounters in sauna in Taipei, and a few in my room in Taipei (Mar-May2018), all okay. No money or communication problems, no space/time confusion, the only problem is that most of them have no interest in me. One free boy tourist in Bangkok okay.

One money boy in Bangkok (doesn’t speak English or Thai, what’s his customer base here?) who only just before making an appointment revealed that he is a moneyboy, and asked for 2000, which I declined.

6. Thai

Hundreds of boys, free or paid, communication in English or Thai. Many good, but on the other side even more with and all kinds of lies and bullshit, enough to write a book.

There is some distortion, as living here and speaking the language gives me access to every village idiot, whereas in other countries I can only communicate with those who speak English, or those who made it to Thailand for work or holiday which presents a positive selection.

7. Blacks

Not SEAsian, but put them here nonetheless.

Equatorial continental black Africans*; or their descendants in other countries (most notable the USA and France). No experience in bed, but interaction that was meant to lead there negative. Previous posts on this subject:

The one encounter with a Malagasy moneyboy I had in Pattaya in 2017 ? was positive, and all reports I read or hear about Malagasy moneyboys were positive.

*In short: Blacks or Negroes; to distinguish them from bushmen, pygmies, Arabs, Malagasies, who are all Africans, but less attractive than Blacks or Negroes to me.

8. Filipinos

I haven’t been to Philippines, and might never go. The only area country * in SEAsia I haven’t been to. All encounters with Filipinos were in Bangkok. Details in an upcoming post.

* I have no interest in Brunei (homopobic) and Timor-Leste. Every time I have to scroll through an alphabetic list of countries (Afghanistan, Albania,..) until I reach Germany, I think that there are far too many countries in the world. Or just put Germany on top of the list of countries.

It must have been 20 years ago that I read a story about someone’s arm having been chopped off to rob his wristwatch, and that’s the first thing I think of when I read or hear “Philippines”.

9. Vietnamese

Limited experience. One moneyboy in Thailand in 2012 ? from Fresh Boys . We didn’t talk about money; I gave him 1500 and he wanted 2000, at the end I had to kick him out of my room with 1600.

Two encounters with free boys, one in Bangkok (good, and then meet again in Vung Tau) and one in Saigon (okay). 

One boy I met in Saigon had asked for 500 ? kDong for taxi to come to meet me, which I agreed to. He was cute, we had dinner, but only little English and then asked for 2 ? mDong for sex. That was clearly too much and I was not in the mood for paying, so I didn't negotiate. Overall, another negative encounter.

That makes 3 negative, 1 okay, 1 positive. Place at the bottom of the list well deserved. And it’s good to have an enemy image (Vietnamese money boys in Bangkok) who you can blame for everything, from rising prices to global warming to HIV. 

On the other hand, my memories of my two trips to Vietnam in 2016 are positive. And Vietnam has visa free entry for Germans. And there is a lot I would like to see. And I liked the food. If encounters with boys had been positive, I would have been back many times.

But I’m willing to dip again into the pool of Vietnamese money boys in Thailand, as soon as I get a recommendation of a boy who is my type, does everything I would want, and is happy with 1000 THB for short time. 

Vietnamese  money boys are discussed frequently on the gay forums, and membership seems to be split between those who report positively, and those who report negatively, and nothing in between.

Chronology of development of Cambodian railway network, some information from internet, some own observations and pictures.

After civil war and genocide, the Cambodian railway network was not used at all or only for freight.

There was/is the Bamboo Train in Battambang, where locals used lorries for transportation, and which was a tourist attraction. No personal experience.

When I first came to Cambodia in July 2014, railway station in Phnom Penh was not open to public (locked and guarded, used for freight) and there was no passenger train service.

As I personally saw, track and railway stations are ready, now only administrative and political problems remain. A train service from Bangkok to Phnom Penh would be a good reason for me to visit Cambodia again.

Update jul2019: A friend reports the train from Bangkok now runs up to the border for 49 THB (before Aranyaphrathet 48 THB and public transport on road for 60 THB from memory).

In my quest to ride the train everywhere in Thailand (almost there, only 20 km from Trang to Kantang is missing - I was on that train on 20nov2015 but had to take a van as the track was closed due to accident), I recently (13jan2019) took the train from Nong Khai หนองคาย to Thanalaeng ท่านาแล้ง (Lao).

Nong Khai is one of the most awful provincial capitals in Thailand that I have been to. There is no public transport system. On the day of the train ride, I walked 6:15-55 from my hotel in town 2.9 km, mostly along main road highway 212, to railway station, without a single restaurant or 7-Eleven along the way. Fortunately, there was a restaurant opposite railway station open, so I could have breakfast there.

Buy ticket for train 913 Nong Khai to Thanalaeng for 20 THB (avoid touts who try to sell overpriced combination tickets train + van to Vientiane). Train schedule is 7:30-45, real 7:58-8:08. Thai immigration opens 7:38, I get stamped out 7:53.

I crossed the bridge (Thai-Lao friendship bridge 1) before on bus, but didn't pay attention and didn't notice that the railway track is in the middle of the road, and road traffic is blocked while the train passes the bridge. There is a kind of pedestrian sidewalk, but there were signs in Thai "do not cross" blocking the sidewalk.

Thanalaeng railway station is 2 km from the main border crossing, 20 km from Vientiane, in the middle of nowhere. At least there is a free western toilet and running water and vans waiting for passengers.

Lao visa on arrival took 8:09-57. If you don't know you need a visa, you  could walk past visa counter and are in Lao. Visa fee is 30 USD or 1300 THB or 30 EUR. At current exchange rates, 30 USD is the cheapest, so I brought USD from Thailand.

There was a French girl who argued with the officers that 30 USD would be 1200 THB at current exchange rate and tried to get a visa for 1200 THB, but in the end the officer told her that only USD are accepted. One other had old worn USD that were not accepted. But even with such delays, there is no explanation why it took so long. The main immigration is even worse, with more people (experience from 2011 and 2014).

Gay activities, gay saunas, public transport and accommodation notes from my recent trip to Taiwan. Filed as “Gay activities April 2019”, but covers 18mar-18apr2019. Exchange rate at time of writing: 1 EUR = 35 TWD, 1 USD = 31 TWD, 100 THB = 97 TWD.

Getting to and from Don Mueang airport

Many years ago, I took a taxi from my room near Malaysia hotel to Suvarnabhumi airport and the driver took a detour that was twice as long (both in distance and time) and twice as expensive as the usual way.

Another unusual taxi trip. From Sathorn to Suwarnaphumi on Tue 10.05.2016. Driver asks policeman who directs traffic at intersection for way to Sathorn road, which I find strange (better go to Rama 4 - Klong Toey expressway). Driver tells me he will go Rama 2 and outer ringroad because toll is cheaper there. But I wonder how much longer we will drive for that cheaper toll. Beyond Taksin bridge, I check google maps: fastest would be via Rama 4 - Klong Toey expressway, but now there is no way back. Later ask driver why he didn't take that route. He never went that way! In total it took 7:58 - 9:23 am, 77 km, 40 Baht toll and 639 Baht fare to get to the airport! In addition to not knowing the best way, he cannot calculate either: I gave him a 1000 Baht note and he handed me 440 Baht change, and I corrected him.

That, combined with their reluctance to use the meter, even at 4^th floor arrival (I once had a driver who initially agreed to use the meter, then changed his mind and took me back there – 4^th floor arrival – for free), made me not take taxis to/from airport for years.

But now I had luggage that I didn’t want to drag along the road. Taxi from my room to Don Mueang 17:07-42 for 203 THB plus 50 THB tollway (part of the trip on tollway, part on normal road), so fast and reasonably cheap, not worth dragging suitcases along the road, and changing bus/train/MRT, and waiting. Taxi 35 minutes, 253 THB.

On return take bus for comparison. Wait for bus A3 Don Mueang – Lumpini park 19:23-35. Take bus 19:35-20:23 for 50 THB (was it 30 just a year ago?). Then taxi 20:25-37 from Lumpini park to my room 43 THB. Bus A3 and taxi 74 minutes, 93 THB.

Mon18mar2019 Taipei

For a 30 day stay, I can’t spend days staying in hostel and looking for accommodation, so arrange accommodation by internet in advance. My flight arrives 00:25 and I had planned to stay at the airport until the first train in the morning. But there are people who sleep late, so I message my landlord and she is still up and I can come now! A good start.

Take bus from airport to Taipei Main Station (railway station in town) and taxi from there. The driver reads and understands the address that I wrote down in Chinese (he spoke no English and my spoken Chinese is poor), switches on the meter, and has change for a fare of 165 NTD, paid with a 1000 NTD note.

Imagine you arrive in Thailand as a tourist and take a taxi, any time, at the airport or railway station! The driver trying to sell you his wife, daughter, son, cow for sex would be the least of your problems!

My accommodation turned out to be a homestay, which is a bit unusual for me. Doors and walls are thin as everywhere in Taiwan, you can hear what people next room are talking. A language exchange partner (Chinese-German) from last year comes to my room. This serves as well as a test, to get my landlord and her family used to me having visitors, some time with door open so they can see we are studying, sometimes with door closed to block out noise from living room and to get them used to me being in my room with another person with closed door.

A White friend repeatedly reports good results (gay activities in the steam room) in Emperor Spa. I can confirm those activities, but I never had luck there.

Another poor visit, both for facilities and customer base. I don’t like that you have to pay for locker, and you can lock it only once. The locker is rather small; I barely manage to squeeze my backpack and clothes in. There are no towels provided, I forgot to bring a towel and had to dry my body with a hair dryer, like everyone else does. The drinking water fountain is out of order. The water in the hot tub is slightly acidic and burns when it gets in my eyes.

In all aspects (facilities and customer base), Soi 13 in wins hands down. It’s twice as expensive, but easier and faster to get to. And if you divide entry price by fun, Soi 13 in comes out as winner as well.

Take train to Taichong where I’m going to meet a fuck buddy from last year. His parents are away, so I can stay at his place. Great!

Arrive at the railway station, message him: not read. Have dinner. Call him: no reply. Think of alternatives (return to Taipei or book hostel online and continue my trip as planned), check if the location he sent is precise enough to find the house and knock on the door (it is not). Sounds like Thailand?

Call again: finally reply. Go to his place and will spend two nights there. However, he had various stuff to do, we would go to bed at different times and get up at different times, and while we would sleep in the same double bed, we would do just that: sleep in the original sense of the word.

But some interesting conversation. He is sexually attracted to Whites, Arabs and Latinos, but not to SEAsians.

Walk-in price would be 600 per night, but online I can get it for 475, so I book online.

I should have looked closer at the pictures. I ended up in a 32 (!!!) bed  male dormitory, with not curtains for the beds, and not table or elsewhere to put and sort my stuff. No lockers. As I had the upper bed, I can’t even sit on the mattress and have my feet on the floor. Next time, pay attention to such details.

Around 23, the ceiling lights are switched off by receptionist (and following morning about 8 switched on), and everyone has to use flashlight or mobile phone to find his bed.

They have an ample washroom/sauna/hot tub area, this place used to be a bathhouse/spa. Guests are not shy, some are naked in the bathroom area. The shower cubicles are frosted glass, but no lock. You could get in with two and nobody would be able to see how many are in and what they are doing.

Location for this and following see google maps. Entry 400. Stay 19:53-21:50. So-so.

1^st floor = ground floor entrance to building.

3^rd floor (lift) reception, locker, group rooms and 30 private rooms, sauna, large steamroom with window to urinal (no light in steamroom, looking from urinal you only see a dark wall and don’t know someone could be looking at you peeing), showers with hot water (too hot!), labyrinth and darkroom. Free cookies and orange juice.

About 50 customers throughout with a good turnover. One cute and three interested in me. The cute one was an asshole (as a general insult, which I use very sparingly, but here it fits). First he was wearing underwear and shirt whereas everyone else was just in underwear, and he took his mobile phone into the dark room and when he turned on the screen, probably to better see, I and probably everyone else was blinded from the sudden light. I hope some day someone will grab his phone and throw it on the floor!

Basement reception (looks like in a hotel, two women, one of them speaks good English), large restaurant (customer smokes!) with free cold water and tea; sauna and steam room, large pools with water of different temperature (cold, warm, hot 42 degree Celsius). Vast cinema (but no movie played) with about 50 upholstered reclining seats (all in flat position). From basement one floor down a kind of dormitory with 14 double decker beds.

Large lockers, large towel of good quality. There were about 10 customers during my stay, all too old and fat for my taste. I think this place is more for spa/relaxing than for sex.

Back in the dormitory, I try to get water out of my wristwatch. A while ago I got a trace of water in my watch, which forms mist on the glass. Take off the back cover and repeatedly heat the glass with hair dryer and let cool. Thus, I have a legitimate reason to enter the male bathroom over 10 times (it took that often to get all water out).

Subconsciously I notice another customer (at that time I mistook him for staff waiting for his shift, as he was wearing pajama with the name of the place) going to toilet twice. Either he has a weak bladder or he is looking for something else in the toilet!

When I go for peeing, he stands next to me, looks at me and my dick and I do the same and smile at him. He is stroking his dick and is hard, I do the same but can’t get hard under such circumstances. I like what I see, and we could go to the toilet cubicles just a meter behind us, but I got some urine on my fingers so have to wash my hands, and anyway don’t like the idea of having sex in a toilet cubicle.

Chat him up in the lounge, no English and not very responsive in Chinese either. Lost him due to cultural or other misunderstanding! On hornet, someone else messages me and asks if I’m staying in Single Inn. So there are opportunities, but where to go?

Entry 400, stay 16:49-17:52. So-so.

1^st floor = ground floor entrance and reception.

2^nd floor lockers, shower, toilet, steam room (no light source other than gap between door and frame, can accommodate about 10; sauna with window towards shower area, can accommodate about 5, bathtub with water of room temperate can accommodate about 5).

3^rd to 5^th private and group rooms, karaoke.

Rooftop garden smoking area.

Two big and one small towel of good quality. Shower gel, shampoo, single use toothbrush and razor, toothpaste and shaving cream provided.

Most customers too old and fat for my taste, setting a negative record in Kaohsiung. Play with one shapely in steam room, but he does not seem to want to take it further (it seems he left afterwards, can't find him elsewhere in the sauna).

Meet a boy P from Beijing from blued in Daan Park, then to his hotel room nearby. Fluent in English and interesting conversation, and we got to bed but he is a bordercase (a bit on the fat side) and talks too much.

Soi 13 in stay 19:43-22:26. Steamroom brimming when I arrive, almost empty when I leave. The steamroom next to showers is first indicator of how many customers are there, and in busy times you can’t get in because it’s full with estimated over 50!

No clear hit, but some interesting conversation. But towards the end a clear hit Jack. Have some fun in the steamroom, then exchange Line to arrange a date on the weekend.

I was hoping Jack knows somewhere to go (short-time hotel), but he does not know and cannot host (stays with his family), and my place is not optimal either, so we meet in Soi 13 in again to make use of their private rooms.

The light is poor (from ceiling, when you lie on your back it blinds you, and when you stand you can’t see what’s in your shadow), I don’t like the music either. Nonetheless, we have a reasonably good time, spending about 2 hours in the room. And this constitutes my first date in Chinese! Jack speaks only little English and used google translate, whereas I wrote and read Chinese with only little help from dictionary.

D comes to my room where we would spend 16:00-19:18. He has 10-15 hairs on each nipple, some bizarre shape and quite long, I wind one around finger to pull out. Ask him about short time hotels. He doesn’t know any, but once went to a cinema that has private rooms with a date.

My favorite barber (i.e. the cheapest in walking distance) has a note “away 17-20” on his shop, but the shop is still closed and neighbor says he will be back tomorrow. Next year, I have to give Songkran an even wider berth to avoid itself and all inconveniences associated with it.
