After about 130 genuine comments (of which two ended in the spam filter) and about 30 spam comments (of which two passed the spam filter), I can proclaim that the spam filter works! This is as well proof that others who protect their comment section with login and/or CAPTCHA are posers (or have important reasons I don't know; I find it annoying).

ReplyDeleteLol are you a fan of spam??? I love it, however, there's an art to it. At first when you start it kinda looks a little crude - but if you learn and manually spin your comments then you can get really good readable comments! What's more they have many hundreds or thousands of unique combinations!!! Another aspect is targeting the exact keywords that place your comments on pages with exact relevant topics, this is a tricky one - but can be achieved.
ReplyDeleteA lot of spammers are point and blast merchants,it's a bit of a numbers game for them. Me I'm a quality spammer because I believe in only leaving relevant comments on relevant pages thus adding value to the webmasters page and gaining me a backlink! Basically a win win scenario for all parties concerned!

Blogspot's spam filter is about 98% right. I estimate, out of 100 comments, 98 are placed correctly and one legitimate comments ends in the spam box and one spam gets posted and I have to move both manually.

ReplyDeleteI recently noticed that several genuine comments throughout the last 12 months ended up in the spam filter. I okayed them for publication, but they appear under their original posting date, that means they do not show up under most recent comments.

Current estimates: out of 100 spam, only 1 passes the spam filter. Out of 100 genuine comments, 10 get caught by spam filter and I have to okay them for publication.
