You will rarely get a rejection in online dating. Which is unfortunate for me, as I prefer a rejection over ignoring or endless chat.
A message that is not read or read but not answered can mean the person is not interested or is busy.
If I'm very interested in a boy I will write 3 or 4 or 5 times before giving up. If someone takes the effort to message me several times (with space between the messages), I will reply that/why he is not my type, e.g. here:
