We meet on main road, he already passed the 7-Eleven. First impression in real live is so-so. I would take him for free. But then I spot hair on his knees and upper legs. That in addition to the tedious chat completely deters me. Taking him back to my room, have a look at him naked and sent him home with 500 would sent a wrong signal. So I tell him I’m more tired than horny, which is true, and say goodbye without giving him money.

What a waste of my time, all the chat and the trip to Kanchanaburi!

I didn’t see the money request coming. But from then on pretty predictable: starting with a high offer and coming down to reasonable, and the pick-me-up mentality. You could argue that I had made up my mind not to have sex and not to pay when I arranged to see him. But I don’t feel any remorse about that. I came all the way from Bangkok, so I had to have at least one look at him in real live.

It’s not that I wouldn’t pay for sex, but I want to know in advance because it changes the rules from an advantage for the boy to an advantage for me. And there are some like this who I would take for free, but not pay for.

It remains the question how to get to that point (free or money) earlier in the conversation, without alienating boys who would never think of asking for money for sex, and without giving ideas to those would be amenable to the idea and just didn’t think of it before.

If I hadn’t had some sightseeing the following day in Kanchanaburi, the trip would have been a total waste of time and money! This is the furthest I have travelled to meet a boy, and then failure. Previous record was Chachoengsao in 2013, where I didn’t even meet the boy, because he was elsewhere the day I went to Chachoengsao to meet him, as we had agreed and confirmed several times. Best is to always have an alternative plan.

There is an interesting coincidence. I once had a boy from McDo Rama 4 who was similar greedy and a thief (no proof, but my headphone missing coincide with his visit; whereas for clothes he had the trick to come in his uniform, then ask me for clothes to change, and take them home and not return them). We met twicke, and then I got bored of his tricks and lost contact anyway. And now this one from KFC. Whereas all boys I had who worked at 7-Eleven or similar were okay or positive.

Thale Waek in Prachuap Khiri Khan

Thale Waek in Prachuap Khiri Khan
āļ—āļ°āđ€āļĨāđāļŦāļ§āļāļ›āļĢāļ°āļˆāļ§āļšāļ„ีāļĢีāļ‚ัāļ™āļ˜์

During low tide, the islands off Prachuap Khiri Khan town can be reached by foot. The Thai call this phenomenon that occurs in several places Thale Waek āļ—āļ°āđ€āļĨāđāļŦāļ§āļ tÃĄ-lay wàek "split sea".

The first time I had to consult tide tables for sightseeing! Tide tables for various places in Thailand, in a concise form, printable (pdf), for the entire years, bilingual English and Thai, can be found here: https://www.onestopdive.com/thailand-tide-table/

Wing 5 (Royal Thai Airforce Base on whose grounds several tourist attraction in PKK are) has a website for Thale Waek:

(in Thai, gives dates and times when Thale Waek occurs)

Mid-June 2018 had some of the lowest tides this year around mid-day, so I went to see the Thale Waek and walk to the islands.  I have been to Khao Lom Muak before: https://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2018/01/khao-lom-muak-in-prachuap-khiri-kan-town.html

You could reach the islands from public beach, but as I wanted to do sightseeing on the air force base, I entered there and signed in. It's not allowed to cross the airfield on foot, so I rented a bicycle in town (50 THB per day, Emmanuel Guesthouse and La Vite Italian restaurant, I liked their pizza).

The three accessible islands are (from N to S; on the picture left to right): Koh Lak āđ€āļāļēāļ°āļŦāļĨัāļ, Koh Hai Lam āđ€āļāļēāļ°āđ„āļŦāļŦāļĨ่āļģ with Krom Luang Chumphorn Khet Udomsak Shrine āļĻāļēāļĨāļŠāļĄāđ€āļ”็āļˆāļāļĢāļĄāļŦāļĨāļ§āļ‡āļŠุāļĄāļžāļĢāđ€āļ‚āļ•āļุāļ”āļĄāļĻัāļāļ”ิ์, Koh Rom āđ€āļāļēāļāļĢ่āļĄ. And finally to Koh Rom:

Where the water has drained, the seabed is firm. But where there is water still standing over the ground, it's muddy and I sank in to my ankles several times when crossing such wet areas.

WOP: Viagra / Sidegra

Words of praise: Viagra / Sidegra

On my first trip to Thailand in 2009 (age 29), I walked past X-Boys in Bangkok and from just looking at the boys on stage through the open door, I got an erection. Those times are long past, after years of troubles with Thai boys; most of the time only when both of us are in naked in bed do I get hard, and even then sometimes not fully hard. The occasional morning erection shows that this is a psychological and not a physiological problem. Nonetheless, see if Viagra / Sidegra can help.

Sidegra is the Thai generic of Viagra, introduction in Thailand see https://web.archive.org/web/20170809115524/http://farangbang.blogspot.com/2012/10/sidegra-available-in-thailand-sanook.html

End of 2016, I finally decided to get Sidegra from a Thai pharmacy. Recommended Retail Price RRT is 180 THB for a pack of 4x100 mg, and over the years I bought:

4x100 mg for 450 THB in Bangkok Soi Sribampen,
4x100 mg for 300 THB in Pattaya near Sunee,
4x50 mg for 100 THB in Bangkok opposite Chulalongkorn Hospital Rama 4 road.

It works great and has no side effects for me. Splitting tablets is not easy, there is some loss as powder and the pieces do not have the same size (see pics in link above).

Case studies from my recordings or from memory:
In 2016, one of my then favorite boys took part in the shows in Macho X and Nake sauna, which allowed me to plan when I could test Sidegra.

Start with 25 mg (100 split in 4), and that works beautifully! In once case (Tue 17jan2017), I was sitting and chatting with a cute boy in Nake sauna, and a crowd gathered to admire my face, body and erection.

Continue taking Sidegra about 1 out of 10 encounters (whenever I can plan ahead). In some cases 25 mg is not convincing, so increase the dose to 50 mg.

Counterexample (Fri5jan2018). Take 50 mg in preparation of massage with happy ending with Bank in Magic Hands. However when it comes to happy ending, I find him a bit too fat, too pale and skin too cold and wet for my taste, and I don't get an erection. Proof that it only works when there is a stimulus.

I used to take Sidegra 30 min before meeting a boy, but on Fri2feb2018 a boy was late. I took 50 mg around 13, but the boy only arrived 16:30. I got hard thinking of our first encounter while waiting for him, and still had a good fuck at the end!

Now my first purchase is used up, buy more in Pattaya (Thu15feb2018). You would think Sidegra is sold in Pattaya like fried chicken, but it is not! Walking from Tuk-Com to Sunee, I ask in three pharmacies and get the following replies: no have; price 800 THB but discount to 600 for me; price 300 THB. Better than 450 I paid in Bangkok, but still way to to to get to the RRP of 180.

already posted in Taiwan report:
Wed23may2018
D2 comes to my place. Prepare with 50 mg Sidegra 13:42. Then in bed 14:15-18:18 (that’s over 4 hours, I think a new record). Fuck him at the beginning, and at the end I get fully hard so fuck him again. Two fucks within 4 hours, a biological miracle!

Continue using 50 mg whenever I can plan ahead.

Second pack almost used up, talk with a Farang friend about where to buy. He recommends the pharmacies on Rama 4 road opposite Chulalongkorn hospital, and indeed there I get 4x50 mg for 100 THB (the RRP; you could argue if it's worth splitting 4x100 mg tablets for a saving of 20 THB).

update 9nov2018: Pattaya 4x50mg for 130 THB at Top Pharmacy (blue, South Pattaya near Second Road)

update 6aug2020: price varies considerably

Taipei general observations Mar-May 2018

Taipei general observations Mar-May 2018

General impressions from first trip Dec 2016:
General impressions from second trip Mar 2017:
These two trips were short (5 and 8 days) visa runs, so I didn’t get the full picture. Now after staying full 90 days (visa free for German passport!), I can elaborate and correct some of above observations.

Most notably did I say that Taiwan is almost as cheap as Thailand and almost as civilized as Germany. Taiwan is as civilized as Germany, in some areas even more civilized. Taiwan is not as cheap as Thailand. Public transport costs about the same as in Thailand; street food costs about twice as much (but Western food about the same); accommodation (long-time rent) about three times as much; hotels about twice as much.

Exchange rates at time of posting: 1 THB = 0.91 NTD, 1 USD= 30 NTD, 1 EUR = 36 NTD, 1 GBP = 40 NTD.

Apart from that (more expensive than Thailand), Taiwan compares very favorably with everywhere else in South-East Asia I have been (everywhere except Philippines).

Accommodation
In Bangkok Sathorn I had a room with about 24 sqm for 8000 THB per month. Rents in central Taipei turned out to be much more expensive. I had a look at three rooms (found on the internet), and then decided for one with 8.5 sqm and no window for 9000 NTD per month. Shared toilet, bathroom, kitchen and living room with TV and cleaning service for shared areas included.

Living in such a small space was no problem for me. And room without window gave experimental proof that I do not wake up from sunlight in the morning, as I thought before. In this completely dark room I wake up around 8 am, same as in rooms with window and only little influenced by time I go to bed.

Convenience stores
7-Eleven are as ubiquitous as in Thailand. They are even better than Thailand, as most have a sitting area and you can copy and print.

Only few in Thailand have seating area: The 7-Eleven in NE corner of Klong Toey intersection and the Family Mart about 200 m south of Malaysia Hotel (even power plugs on the table; a Farang friend who likes beer goes there to buy beer and consume it in the shop, with free aircon, seating and charging his phone).

Dogs and Cats
I observed several dog owners taking dustpan with cat litter, brush and bottle of water when walking their dog. That’s for cleaning up after the dog, and indeed I didn’t see any dog poo in Taipei. Contrary experience in Berlin (when I studied there in the noughties and now when visiting friends): dog poo everywhere!

High humidity causes skin problems for dogs (info from friend who has a dog), and many owners keep their dog’s fur short.

Hairdresser for dogs, one of the dogs is real and the others are dummies:

Kitten (elsewhere puppies) displayed in shop window for sale:

I would have wished for more free roaming cats to pet.  Not enough cats. There was only one cat that I pet, the others I saw were scared. Throughout my stay in Taiwan, I was under-catted!

Food
Food is about twice as expensive than in Thailand. Most of my meals were from buffet for 80-100 NTD.

Notice the use of disposable paper trays throughout.
There was very delicious pastry everywhere in town.

I guess I had between 5 and 10 of these per week. Here I violated my rule of civilized eating and ate them while walking.

Based on my loyal reader vinapu's
"I don't drink water. Animals drink water",
I made up some more:
"I don't eat while walking or standing. Animals eat while walking or standing."
"I don't have sex in the bushes. Animals have sex in the bushes."

Fried rice with pineapple is rare in Thailand (only in touristy areas at high prices, I had one in Phuket served in hollow pineapple for 120 THB), but widespread in Taiwan in Thai restaurants and general restaurants. Picture fried rice with pineapple, cashew nuts, shrimp, pork floss (?), yellow color from curry. Delicious, had it many times. Price 100 NTD.

From eating great food and a sedentary lifestyle, I’ve gained some weight. I had a pair of shorts I’d bought years ago, and when I tried to put them on I just couldn’t make the button and hole meet!
From eating great food and a sedentary lifestyle, I’ve gained some weight. I had a pair of shorts I’d bought years ago, and when I tried to put them on I just couldn’t make the button and hole meet!

Language
I would not want to live long term in a country without speaking the language. Anyway, I would have a lot of time to fill (90 days), so I took classes in Chinese (Mandarin, traditional writing). That turned out to be much more time consuming than I thought. After some weeks I realized that learning in a group (even if it’s small, 6 students in my case) is not for me (my Asperger-Autism, and I think you cannot practice speaking and listening with fellow students), and I didn’t like the teacher’s style.

So I looked for language exchange on the internet and quickly found partners. In total I met 5 people, and my experience is overwhelmingly positive. With two I did not just language exchange, we went hiking as well. A nice change from Thailand where I have to plan everything for my trips (and when I go with friends as well), here I just had to follow.

Coming from Thailand, I was used to all kind of space-time-confusions. Nothing of this here! When I had an appointment for the evening, I used to text my partner in the morning "How are you? See you tonight.", at noon (same) and in the afternoon (same) as I do in Thailand, not necessary here.

One language exchange partner I visited at home several times, and we are still in contact and will stay friends. Or, considering he is going to study psychology, did he find his most interesting non-institutionalized / free roaming subject in me?

A friend at school used to say "The best way to learn a language is to sleep with her". (Applying German grammar - Sprache = language is feminin in German - deliberately or by mistake?) That worked very well with Thai (half a year after starting to learn Thai I was already dating in Thai), but that incentive is missing here.

Hotels
Hotels are at least twice as expensive as in Thailand. I didn't stay in hotels during my three trips. In Taipei I used hostels and stayed in dormitory for average 500 NTD. For trip to Taichong I stayed in AirBnB. My first experience with AirBnB, positive.

Public Transport
Public Transport in Taipei is excellent and costs around the same as in Bangkok, subway/underground is even cheaper. Bus stops show time until next bus.

Most buildings in Taipei overhang the sidewalk to protect pedestrians from rain/sun (similar in Penang, Phuket, Singapore; there is a law/regulation, but I can't find it).

Toilets
No water hose (bum gun) where I live. So it’s back to toilet paper, but we are not allowed to flush it down (will block the drain), so there is a waste bucket for used toilet paper. A weird arrangement.

Weather
It's wet all over the year. The manager said in summer clothes won't dry in air, only in dryer. Dogs have skin problems (see above), and a leather wallet that I didn't use in Taiwan got some mould.
