Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon
Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon (Thai: พระมหาธาตุแก่นนคร), details on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phra_Mahathat_Kaen_Nakhon
Belongs to Wat Nong Waeng วัดหนองแวงพระอารามหลวง.
On the western shore of Kaen Nakon lake, easily accessible by foot from town.
Illuminated at night, reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower.
Some weird stuff inside: human skeleton, albino cobra and turtle, shredded banknotes sealed in plastic bags (top shelf above the seashells):
View from top floor (9th floor):
Verdict: it is large, beautiful, unique, well known and easily recognizable, but alone cannot justify trip from Bangkok.
